Sonam Wangchuk is a climate warrior, an environmental activist who is leading a movement ‘CLIMATE FASTING’ to inspire change around the world. His climate fasting movement encourages people to take action on climate change by fasting for one day each month in order to draw attention to the issue.
This time, Sonam is going for a climate fasting for 5 days at the Khardungla pass in Ladakh at -40° in order to draw attention of our hon’ PM Modi ji to save Ladakh and protect its environment.
His concern is about the melting glaciers which is a huge climate crisis. The mountain range in the Ladakhi region is also a part of Earth’s Third Pole, also known as the Hindu Kush-Karakoram-Himalayan system (HKKH), which is a mountainous region west and south of the Tibetan Plateau.
Wangchuk has been an advocate for sustainable living and has been working to bring awareness to the issue of climate change for many years.
The climate fasting movement is already making a difference. It has brought attention to the issue of climate change and has inspired individuals to take action. The movement has been embraced by individuals from all walks of life and has become a powerful symbol of solidarity.
The movement has also been able to bring attention to specific initiatives and campaigns related to climate change. People have used the movement to draw attention to projects and campaigns that are working to make a difference. This has helped to raise awareness of these initiatives and has enabled them to gain more support.
Sonam Wangchuk is also involved in other projects related to climate change. He is the founder of the Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), a non-profit organization that works to promote sustainable development in the region.
He is also the founder of the Ice Stupa Project, a project that works to create artificial glaciers in the mountains of Ladakh. The project uses a unique method of creating ice stupas, or ice towers, that can store water and act as a reservoir for the region.
As an advocate for responsible tourism and sustainability, I strongly support Sonam Wangchuk and appeal you, my dear readers to share this post as much as possible. It’s high time that we pull up our socks and take charge to save the planet.
