Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar Review – ‘Extremely Slow’

I finally saw Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar on Amazon Prime last night. To begin with, Sandeep is Parineeti Chopra and Pinky is Arjun Kapoor. The movie has been directed and produced by Dibakar Banerjee, director who has given multiple flops like LSD, and Bombay talkies (recently I saw it’s own star-cast making fun of this movie, and accepting that I was a huge disaster, I am yet to watch it though).

This movie begins with a murder on the road. It’s extremely long and boring casting sequence until the murder happens wanted me to turn the movie off, but I wanted to see what exactly was the suspense and why Sandeep and Pinky ran away. Soon after 15 minutes, we get to see that they were supposed to kill Sandeep and Pinky. Sandeep is a director of Parivartan bank who is a part of a big scam scheme and now wants to quit the job because of her guilt of doing fraud with poor janta. She threatens the owner of the bank Parichaya to disclose everything in the public because he is not letting her quit and not giving the part of money that she owns. Obviously, he is the one who gave the Supari to kill Sandeep and Pinky, the suspended Haryana police officer. And this is not the suspense. This is also revealed in first 20-25 minutes of the movie.

Then they ran to save their lives and reach Pithoragarh from where Sandeep has to cross the border and reach Nepal safe and sound. Here, they began to stretch the movie and I started to feel bored. Though, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav added a bit of comedy to this extremely slow-paced movie but they are good to watch.

Through I entire movie, I felt Arjun Kapoor was genuinely not interested in anything and at times, Parineeti’s expressions were confusing too.

The story is predictable. It would have been an interesting movie if it was short in length and had a couple of more twists. All through the movie, I kept on wondering why these reviews said it’s a dark comedy movie. I didn’t find it so!

I really liked the scenic beauty of Pithoragarh that is shown in the movie and it made me crave to visit it soon.

All in all, movie was extremely slow despite having a decent storyline, it didn’t work for me. It’s a one time watch!
