What to Write in Father’s Day Handmade Greeting Card?

In my previous post, I shared some ideas of making handmade father’s day greeting cards. In this post, I will be sharing what to write in that handmade card for your father. I have always believed that letter writing and writing in the card is an art and not everyone knows how and what exactly to write in it. As a creative writer (and even personally), I am a huge fan of letter writing. Obviously that’s why I wrote For the sake of love, which is all about the handwritten letters and a beautiful story of unrequited love.

Father’s day is celebrated on 20th June every year to celebrate the fathers and fatherhood. Frankly, I am missing my dad terribly as I am writing this post. I used to surprise him with handmade cards, letter and gifts that he used to love.

Anyway, let’s discuss what to write in your handmade father’s day card that will make your dad feel special –

How to begin?

Begin with something like ‘Dear dad’,  ‘dear pa’, ‘dearest daddy’; this will be written at the beginning of the card.

Body of the card:

Body is the part of the letter or a card where the main content is written. Here you can write what you feel about your dad, words of appreciation et al. Now remember, since this is a card and not a letter, you have to keep it short and precise. So, don’t write long paragraphs. And should you wish to write it, you can write in a different letter and keep it along the card.

You can also write poems for your dad, or some beautiful quotes about dads that will help you express your love for him. The main idea is to tell him that he means the world to you. Now it’s totally up to you how you express it.

Here are some of the prompts for writing a father’s day card. You can complete these sentences and use it as your body part of the card.

Prompts to write a father’s day card:

  • I never say it but I always admire the way you ……………
  • Daddy, remember that day when you …………. it was when I behaved weirdly but trust me it was not meant to hurt you. I love you for ……………
  • You have taught me to ……………
  • You are the best dad for me because ……………
  • The best gift you gave to me is the gift of life, Thank you dad. I love you! In return I promise to ……………
  • Today on father’s day, I want to give you a gift of ……………
  • Today on father’s day, I promote to ……………

So, these were some of the prompts for father’s day greeting cards. Now, once you are done with writing the body part, simply write ‘Happy Father’s Day’, and then end the card content with with phrases and words like ‘Thank you for everything dad’, ‘love you always dad’ etc.
