There were only 3 things good about Sherni movie, 1) Vidya balan’s acting, 2) Vijay raaz’s selfless intention to help and 3) the cubs (baby tigers). Here’s my honest Sheri movie review!
Don’t read this if you don’t want the spoiler of the movie!
Before watching the movie, I felt it would be like ‘kaal’ or maybe an inspiring story based on some true incident. Since the first 10 minutes, I could feel the lead character Vidya Vincent (played by Vidya Balan) is not at all interested in her job and every now and then she wants to quit. Story begins when there is a buzz that there’s a man eater tiger who is killing the villagers. The story is all about forest department vs politicians. Through the entire movies, they have just shown the failed attempts of forest department officers and politicians interrupting the process. At one point of time, it became really annoying to watch and I felt, why can’t they just raise their voice legally?
I like how Hassan Noorani (character played by Vijay Raaz) who is college professor and an environmentalist at heart, is always trying to help Vidya in her efforts, though all in vain.
The dialogues that we see in the promo are the only main scenes in the movies, rest I didn’t find anything that WOW about the movie.
I had several questions in my mind when the movie ended. Questions like what were they trying to show through the movie that government departments have no power, despite their position and designation?, they promoted the movie as a movie to spread social message, but what?, at the end of the movie a private poacher shoots the tigress, this means you want to show that sherni (vidya, metaphorically) couldn’t do anything to save the poor animal and neither the cubs? Then what’s the point of that song ‘main sherni, main sherni’, when you didn’t even show the power of a Sherni (real and metaphorical).
I was really disappointed by this movie though I have been a huge fan of Vidya Balan and her acting in this movie as well is amazing. Her expressions and reactions are so natural and relatable.
Also, the moment when they show the cute cubs, it was an AWWW-worthy moment.
I will not give any stars for this review, I simply don’t know how many stars to give!
Anyway, you can watch this movie on Amazon Prime.
