Thrilled to announce RESPONSIBLE YATRI, A digital initiative for responsible tourism & sustainability.
FYI: Yatri (यात्री) is a Hindi word which means traveller/passenger
I have been travelling since my childhood, all thanks to my parents who have been travellers by heart and took us on holidays every now and then. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, I have explored almost every nook and corner of India. But with time, I noticed the change in landscape of places that I have visited in the past and not just climate change or also because of people visiting the places, the yatris.
I have been planning this project since last 5 years and have worked days and night to align this with reality. Those who know me personally know that I have been through a lot in last 5 years with my personal losses and somehow this got postponed.
But high-time now! We need to bring awareness to people about responsible travel practices and sustainability. Hence RESPONSIBLE YATRI.
Recently I went to Mumbai and took my 8 years old nephew along. He had been to mountains but it was his first time to see the beaches and he was really excited. He had heard about Juhu Beach from his friends and he particularly wanted to see that. Guess what, when we took him there, he didn’t like it. Why? Because it was DIRTY! Plastic packets kept on coming under his feet as we went near the water and what not! It triggered me even more.
We have to be a responsible yatri. Said enough!
I seek blessings of my swargvasi parents, my guiding angels, for this new initiative! I seek your support and blessings for the same too.
