Panchayat (season1 & season2) is a comedy drama series, streaming on Amazon Prime, starring Jitendra kumar, Raghubir Yadav with Neena Gupta.
After a lot of recommendations, I finally saw Panchayat, both seasons. Yes, I had not seen the first season till now. I finished watching both season in 4 days. I couldn’t stop binge watch this one.
Panchayat storyline:
Abhishek (Jitendra kumar) is a college graduate who didn’t get a good job like his friends, fills a form for the job of secretary in a Panchayat in a rural village of Uttar Pradesh. Story starts when he get that job and moves to live in the village where he has to deal with daily-village-life problems. There he meets many people like Pradhan ji (Raghubir Yadav), actual Pradhan (Neena Gupta, Pradhan ji’s wife) and more. This story is all about a city boy trying to adjust in the village, getting annoyed with things but also learning unusual facts of life and becoming friends with the most unusual people.
Panchayat Review:
It was a pure delight to watch Panchayat as it shows the mundane village life which is so satisfying to watch. The simplicity, the connections, the concerns, the landscape, the routine, the hardships and everything is so satisfying to watch. Somethings don’t have an explanation to it. Panchayat is one such web series that touches the chords of our heart that we never thought existed.
In the first season, Abhishek is trying to adjust in the village life while trying to focus on his CAT preparation because he too wants a high paid job just like this friends. Towards the end of the season, he is all demotivated because he couldn’t get the desired score which was required for him to become eligible for his desired college. But, motivation comes to him at the most unexpected way and he again decides to get back on his feet.
In the second season, Abhishek has made his peace with the reality that he has to live here in this village till the time he gets another job. He starts to enjoy his life here while still preparing for CAT. There is also a love angle brewing in this season in between Abhishek and Rinki, Pradhan’s daughter. The season ends on a very heavy and emotional note. I will not reveal it here as I want you to watch it and feel it.
All episodes are standalone but still connected. Means, there is always a new issue, a new topic that starts with 1 episode and towards the end the episode, it is resolved leaving viewers with mostly a smile on the face and some questions.
Final words for Panchayat:
I really liked this one web series. While the internet is full of murder mysteries and dark love stories, Panchayat comes like a fresh breeze on the face making you feel relaxed and gives you a sense of peace and stability. Also, there is a use of some swear-words in it but still, it doesn’t sounds that absurd and can be watched with family.
With 5 stars from my side, I can only say, Panchayat has left me craving for MORE!
Waiting for Panchayat Season 3 NOW!
