11 Monsoon Travel Tips You Must Follow
  1. Check the whether forecast beforehand! This is very important. You obviously want to enjoy your trip and at times, sudden rainfall can ruin the day-plan.
  2. Check for landslides and flood situations. It is NOT advised to travel when any of these have or might happen. Sometimes, roads and highways are closed due to landslides and floods and even the hotels cancel their bookings. So, make sure you check on this!
  3. Carry a raincoat or an umbrella! VERY IMPORTANT
  4. Don’t wear leather or white coloured shoes. The best option for footwear to wear during monsoon travels in clogs and rubber shoes. They can easily be cleaned and obviously, very comfy!
  5. Do carry your own first-aid and insect repellants. If you are travelling to a jungle place like Wayanad, you surely want to make sure leaches and worms don’t get on it. It is very creepy!
  6. Avoid eating street-food during the monsoon. The best option will obviously be Maggi otherwise, say no to street-food during your monsoon travel trip
  7. Avoid wearing cotton or lenin. Rains might ruin your favourite dress! Also, pick something that is not transparent or becomes transparent after getting wet (like cotton). You can pick synthetic, rayon, polyester etc fabric clothes
  8. Waterproof everything – from your backpack to handbag, purse, luggage, trolley, everything! Cover it properly
  9. Carry a phone or camera waterproof cover. It is very important as you don’t want water to ruin your gadgets.
  10. Avoid stepping out during the peak hours as you might get stuck and trust me, highway jams especially in the hill-station are something that you would not want to experience
  11. Last but most importantly, be safe and be wise in decision making. If someone has suggested you something about the place that you are visiting during the monsoon, then give second thoughts and try looking for modifications.

Apart from these tips, I always want to remind you that you must carry your own water bottle and avoid using one-time plastic like straws and packets. Hope this helps! And if you found this post useful and thank & support me by sharing it!
