I always say, everyone is fighting their own set of demons, therefore we shouldn’t judge people with their appearance and behaviour until we know the personal actually. This seems to be the storyline of Mumbai Dairies 26/11 web series which is all about the front-liner workers like doctors, nurses and hospital workers working Bombay General Hospital, where all the victims of 26/11 were brought and treated. It is about what they go through, their partiality towards certain patients, their own personal traumas and how the lives are connected to each other et al.

I won’t give much spoilers here, although there is no much to reveal since it is about the terror attacks that shook the entire country overnight. Anyone who follows news or have read about those attacks knows the sequence of events happened that night.

Since, it was already mentioned that this series is a work of fiction based on true events, I was expecting a bit of drama and some personal accounts of people to exaggerate the storyline. At times, I felt they were too much focusing on people’s personal lives and missed showing the happenings.

Performance wise, Konkona nailed her role as Dr. Chitra and so did Mohit Raina as Dr. Kaushik, although what they showed that Dr. Kaushik is doing open surgeries with drinking plastic straws, putting hands inside the human body, cutting and what not, was a bit OTT material but since it is a work of fiction, I can only appreciate the creativity of the writer.

Apart from these 2 doctors, there is a character of a journalist Mansi, played Shreya Dhanwanthary whom we have seen in The Family Man Season 2 as well. She has done a great job, although character-wise, I felt again, they were showing too. I mean, she hits the car, bangs her head and fakes a paralysis attack just to get inside the hospital for an exclusive ‘story’ for her channel. Shows the inhuman and ruthless side of journalists these days, as they will go down to any extent and compromise every (even sensitive) information for the sake of TRP.

I still can’t take that video clip of Shehnaz Gill when she was going for the last riots of Lt. Siddhartha shukla, how devastated and shattered she was and how inhumanly the journalists were pushing her and asking her what she has to say when clearly she was not a condition to walk also. Anyway, that is another topic of discussion. Coming back to our review!

Apart from these 3, there are also 4 more main characters (3 trainees and 1 wife of Dr. Kaushik) who have also done a great job.

There is a use of false language and disturbing scenes, I would not recommend this to watch with children.

All in all, it is a good web series to watch though don’t expect to gain some insightful knowledge about 26/11 attacks.

My ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
