Dasvi Movie Story:

Ganga Ram Chaudhary (Abhishek Bachchan), CM of Harit Pradesh is sent to jail for indulging in a teacher’s scam. He is just 8th pass and illiterate who cannot even write his name in Hindi. When he is sent to jail, he gives the authority and position of CM to his wife Bimla Devi (Bimla Devi). Bimla Devi is another illiterate villager who can’t even speak in a normal tone.

Now, in the jail, the in-charge is Jyoti Deswal (Yami Gautam Dhar) who is very strict. Before her arrival, Ganga enjoys his lavish life even in the jail with a private room, bed tea and tv. But as soon as Jyoti comes, she takes away all the amenities and order Ganga to live like other prisoners. He is given with options to work that are suitable for 8th pass prisoners like carpentering, cooking, toilet cleaning etc. To escape this, Ganga ram decides to become a student and study for 10th exam. But soon, he realises the important of education and what he could have done if he was educated.

Meanwhile his wife starts to enjoy the power and lavishness of the position of CM and her temptation for the same starts to become evident, even to the Ganga Ram. She feels like I want to continue with this now and won’t go back to that old life.

When Ganga Ram starts to take education seriously, everyone around him realises that he is good man and starts to help him. What follows next is the remaining story.

Dasvi Movie Review:

I read so many people (website to be more precise) giving bad reviews for the film and it’s plot. I feel people don’t want to see light-hearted positive movies with strong social messages. Education is such an important topic but people only want to see murder mysteries and scams. This movie has been made from the makers of Hindi Medium and English Medium. After seeing the movie, I felt that this role was written keeping Lt. Irrfan Khan in mind, who would have done an outstanding job.

BUT, this doesn’t mean that Abhishek Bachchan’s performance was any less. In fact, I really appreciate Abhishek bachchan’s acting skills despite having a complete different accent in real life. The comic timings, the dialogue delivery and expressions, everything was 10 on 10. Even Nimrat kaur and Yami Gautam did a fab job in the movie.

I really liked the climax. After such a long time, I saw a movie which completely neat and clean and suitable to watch with my nephew. Yes, you can enjoy this movie with kids without feeling embarrassed about the awkward scenes and swearing dialogues.

All in all, if you want to watch a light-hearted and feel-good movie with family, Dasvi is perfect for you!
