Journey to Rishikesh and Haridwar remains incomplete if one does not taste the famous special Thali of Chotiwala – By The River Ganges. In this post, I am talking about the famous Chotiwala restaurant which is without a doubt the best place to eat pure veg food in Rishikesh. On moving upward in the hilly region of the northern part of India one find themselves dreaming and engrossed with the cool air, the beautiful green green valleys, the high extended snow covered mountains and the zigzag round.
Travelling from Haridwar to Rishikesh and then upward to Dehradun and Mussoorie is an itinerary that is very common. Entering Rishikesh you will find people talking about the famous Chotiwala which is famous food chain known for its quality pure-veg food. It is situated on the banks of river Ganga near Ram Jhula.
As I had heard a lot about Chotiwala, I had to order it’s special thali (which is really famous amongst the foodies). The special north Indian Thali was served with all the delicacies. The Rotis was so good and yummy and there were also mixed vegetable, pickles, Dahi and Chana Dal, Kadhi. Just awesome and so tasty, with all the masalas mixed well and the paranthas were made of pure ghee. I noticed most of the tourists order this special thali.
It has a great thali that has everything seasonal vegetables, shahi paneer, dal makhani , rice, curd, papad sweet dish etc. even I love the way the food was presented before us. Beside this, we also order Chole Bhature (Actually my mom ordered it) that were amazing too.
Apart from this, you can also order Chinese, Italian and Thai cuisine there.
The chotiwala is spacious and airy and you will love to sit and rest for a while until the food is served hot and fresh. Vegetable dishes are only served which can defeat any other dishes with its tastes.
The location is super awesome and the ambiance perfectly suits the location. You can eat while having a nice calming view of Holy Ganga and the mountains on the other side. We visited Chotiwala restaurant for lunch and it was all cloudy which made the views even more beautiful.
The staffs of the restaurant are very well behaved and cooperated with the need and requirement of every customer.
The only drawback I felt was that it is not situated on the main road, so you have to walk to this restaurant. Also, there are so many monkeys around this place, so don’t carry thing in your hands, they might snatch it away.
I suggest everyone who is kinda foodie at heart, must visit Chotiwala in Rishikesh, if planning a trip to Haridwar and Rishikesh.
Until next time, take care!
