Bachchhan Pandey starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi is streaming on Amazon Prime.
I wonder why they twisted the spelling of the movie from Bachchan Pandey to Bachchhan Paandey? Maybe for some astrological reasons! Reminds me of Munna Bhai 2 climax scene when Batuk Maharaj is roasted nicely by Munna Bhai & circuit. That scene always cracks me up! 🤣
Anyway, coming back to Bachchhan Pandey, well, the movie about an aspiring director Myra (Kriti Sanon) who wants to make a biopic so solid, that she can prove her talent and make a mark in the film industry. She decides to make a movie on Bachchhan Pandey’s (Akshay Kumar) life who is a merciless (desi) don of Baagwa in Uttar Pradesh. In this work, she seeks help from her friend Vishu (Arshad Warsi).
In the first half of the movie, she tries to sneak out and collect data for the movie secretly and in the second half, she works with Bachchhan Pandey to make the movie.
I will not give the spoiler here as it is a one-time watch.
There is also a 30-minute sequence where Pankaj Tripathi enters as an acting teacher to teach all the Bachchhan Pandey tribe acting for the movie. Although Pankaj tripathi is a commendable actor but I feel this sequence was not really required. It felt like they are stretching the movie for no good reason. I watched by skipping it every now and then.
Also, another thing I didn’t understand was they depicted Uttar Pradesh but when they were dancing, playing music and acting, it all felt like a south movie, similar to what we saw in Rowdy Rathore, where they failed to show the Biharis.
And one really important question, why, in the name of God, did he keep on removing his stone eye and play kanchey with it? Sheer nonsense!!! Oh, until he was crime master Gogo, jo ankhein nikal kar gotiya khel sakta hai! 🤪
The movie was slow at times and because of this, it felt so lengthy.
All in all, it is a masala entertainer. If you liked movies like Rowdy Rathore and Tashan, then you will like this one also.
And for me, it didn’t really work! Sending 2 stars for this movie!
