Just Like That

A Meeting with Sudhir Mishra – Film Director, Writer

Mr. Sudhir Mishra is an eminent filmmaker who is well-known for his hit movies like Chameli, Yeh Saali Zindagi, Hazaro Khwahishe Aisi etc. He is in buzz for his latest movie ‘Inkaar’ starring Chitrangada Singh & Arjun Rampal. I along with one of my class-mate/friend Yasir met him personally to interview him (because of our college assignment) for his upcoming project named Mehrunissa which probably would have Mr. Amitabh Bacchan & Mr. Rishi Kapoor in it. It was really a pleasure meeting this down-to-earth and amazing person. I am so excited to be assisting him in this movie.

Talking to him for an hour was truly memorable. We went to meet him at this home in Lucknow only. He is frank, jolly, simple though very intelligent and highly talented person. He shared his cherished moments , his journey till now in the industry and cleared some myths of mine regarding the industry. He says ‘it is not the degree or money which matters to be a filmmaker but the number of scripts in your pocket’. He says ‘it doesn’t matters from which city you are, or what background you have… if you are talented you will surely get a chance to prove yourself.’ And also quotes that ‘everything is a matter of luck and destiny’.

He is more into parallel cinema than the mainstream cinema and he loves his work. He likes to focus on more intense subjects than just the normal and on-going subjects. And without any doubt, his movies are awesome and that is why mostly are critically acclaimed and are listed among the best works.
The most memorable moment was when after the interview was done, he said ‘what if I offer you a role in my movie? Would you work?’ and like a dumb naive girl, I replied ‘No! I am sorry. I can’t act!’ He laughed and said, I like you!
We also played with his dog Whiskey. Cute name, isn’t it?
It was really a privilege and pleasure meeting this brilliant filmmaker personally. Special thanks to Amity University & Professor Chander Mahadev for giving this opportunity to me. Though, I don’t want to be a journalist (I can never be one) but who doesn’t love meeting bollywood celebs? All in all, it was an amazing meeting.
