Diwali 2022 is almost here. To remind you, Diwali 2022 is on 24 Oct while, Choti Diwali is on 23 oct and Dhanteras is on 22 Oct. This festival of joy and lights is also the time when you meet and greet your loved ones and gift them gifts and sweets. Since it is the festival time, it becomes next to impossible to avoid eating sweets and junk. After all, Diwali is one of the biggest festival. Fret not! In this post, I am sharing some really easy to follow yet important pre-Diwali diet tips to prepare your body for this festive season. Trying following this to enjoy binge eating during Diwali.
Important Pre-Diwali Diet Tips:
-
Water
Start drinking as much water as your can. It is advised to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every day. But this is the minimum volume, try increasing it to 11-12 glasses. This will keep your hydrated, cleanse your body, make you eat less and take care of your skin.
-
Avoid frying
Frying is really unhealthy. But potato lovers like me would understand how difficult it is to avoid the french fries, aloo fry and other fried dishes. Also, how can we not forget samosas and pooris. Well, in that case, either go for a air-frying option or bake things up. Now, you cannot obviously bake pooris, in that case, you need to avoid it for some days.
-
Change your butter
You will be surprised to know that butter too has health benefits. It contains vitamin D and calcium that is good for bone growth and development. So, I do not suggest you to stop eating butter, but yes you can also change it to better healthier options. There are so many brands with options of healthy butter, eat that. OR, you can simply reduce the amount of butter than you consume.
-
Avoid sugary sodas (cold drinks)
If you know me personally, you know that I drink a lot of sugary sodas (coke, pepsi, etc) but now I have become conscious with my food and beverages choice. Now I prefer diet coke or sugar-free options or I drink juices because I am a fan of juices a lot and coconut water and watermelon is my favourite. You too, do the same. Either drink sugar-free sodas or switch to juices.
-
Workout at least 30 minutes
You need to make your body active and prepare it for binge eating. So, start working out at least 10 days prior and continue it till the 10 days after the festival. Now, with workout I do not mean go to the gym only, but you can also meditate, go for a walk or run, dance, do zumba etc. But do it at least 30 minutes.
-
Switch to healthy snacks
There are so many protein-rich and healthy snack options, you can keep that for munching. Some examples are baked crackers, baked chips, soya sticks, ragi crackers, oats bars etc.
I always full these pre-Diwali diet tips to maintain my fitness. With these, I don’t have to worry about binge eating junk food and sweets during the 3-4 days of festival. I eat break-free and guilt-free during the 3-4 days of Diwali celebration because I know I have been prepping my body since last 10-15 days and will continue with the same diet after the festival. You too try it this year and see the difference yourself!
