  • Diya

You can either buy earthen diyas (mitti ke diye), metal diyas or brass diyas.

  • Candles

Apart from diyas, you must get beautiful candles for Diwali. There are so many beautiful designer candles available in the market and online. Here are some of my favourite designs if you are shopping online for diwali.

  • Fairy-lights

We are shopping for the festival of lights, how can we forget the beautiful fairy-lights? Below are my favourites!

  • Dry Fruits

Diwali feast is incomplete without dry fruits. From cashew to almonds, pistachios, walnuts and raisins, you must get it all. Though in my house, we prefer buying 1kg -500g packs but you can also buy budget-friendly combos that are available online.

  • Sweets and chocolates

This one is for yourself and obviously the guests that will come to your place for Diwali.

  • Gift for guests

It is always a good idea to giveaway something when you guests are about to leave. For this, you can either give them a box of cookies, sweets, chocolates or something like scented candles etc.

  • Furnishing items

Yes! Furnishing items like bedsheets, pillow covers, curtains, cushion covers, throw blankets, tv-fridge covers, sofa covers, table runners etc are important to buy on Diwali. It is believed that the more your house is clean and fresh, the more it attracts and makes Ma Laxmi happy, the Goddess of wealth.

  • Home decor

Apart from furnishing items, you can also get some pretty home decor items like lamps, wall hanging, plants, etc.

  • Puja items

I am not sure about you, but in my house we bring all the puja items like Ganesha-Laxmi murti, kheel-khilona, temple decoration etc. on Dhanteras which is 2 days before Diwali.

  • Utensils and home appliances

On dhanteras, it is considered auspicious to buy new utensils and home appliances; in fact any new asset for that matters! Did you know, the car and bike sales increases by 50% on the day of dhanteras.

  • Fire crackers

Diwali is incomplete without fire crackers though try to avoid the ones that are super noisy and create a lot of smoke. Phooljhari, anaar and rocket are fine but get the eco-friendly ones!
