Having a personal diary is something I always recommend every one, despite your age. People associate personal diaries with teenagers, well it’s not true. Having a personal diary aka personal journal is essential for everyone and in this post, I am giving you 7 reasons why!

  1. Personal diary is your personal best friend where you can totally be yourself without thinking what others be will judge. At times, there are some thoughts or desires that we are shy or ashamed in sharing even to our closest friend thinking what they might think. There’s where personal diary helps! You can share without putting any filters on it, in the rawest and realest form ever!
  2. Another very important reason why you should have a personal diary is burst stress. Whenever you feel stressed, depressed or anxious, simply go to your personal diary and put everything on paper. This session will make you feel relaxed and de-stress you.
  3. Self-reflection! This is something often people ignore but self-reflection is very important. You can see what progress you made, your life’s highlights, your success, failures and record of thoughts and everything you have been through to reach at this point of your life. This is important because it helps you understand your growth and prepare for your next steps. Highly recommended!
  4. Researchers have proved that maintaining a personal journal/diary helps improve your memory.
  5. Would you believe if I say that having a personal diary or journal can improve your self-confidence? Yes, it is a fact. Because you are able to express yourself properly in your diary and you get time to improvise about your actions and be mindful, this automatically improves your self-confidence and ability to interact with people.
  6. Having a personal diary is a great way to be mindful about your decisions. When you write everything in your diary first, it gives you time to re-think about your actions and decisions and you stop being impulsive in situations in life. This automatically helps in making you a better decision maker!
  7. Revisit the good times! This is sometimes very therapeutic, especially when you are overwhelmed with emotions or are simply sad.
