Jaipur Tourism: Tourist Places in Jaipur + Bonus Tips

Jaipur, the Pink city of India is the capital of state Rajasthan in India. In 1727, the Royal Family that once ruled the region was founded, which is now called as the old city. This old city Jaipur is also known as the Pink City because of all the building coloured in Pink. At the center of its stately street grid stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex. With gardens, courtyards and museums, part of it is still a royal residence. Jaipur tourism is indeed famous for the forts, palaces, and culture.

I visited in the month of July. The climate was pleasant, in fact it rained the night we reached. Yes! Locals told that these 3-4 months in Jaipur (July, August, Sept), it often rains. It was a 6 hours drive from Delhi to Jaipur though if you are travelling via Volvo bus, it will be an overnight journey.

Everyone knows Hawa Mahal, a palace made of pink and red sandstones having a lot of windows. This palace was made in 1799. Though, I feel the beauty of this mahal is from the outside only. So here’s a quick tip, reach the places around 5:30-6 pm and climb up to any of the cafes right across the Hawa Mahal. Wait for the lights to turn on and enjoy the beauty, while you eat!

Bonus Jaipur Shopping Tip: Okay! You can also shop from the market nearby. Your guide or random sellers might say that they are expensive, but it’s wrong. We went to the factory to shop (as instructed by our guide) but prices were almost the same. So, it’s a good idea to shop from any market you visit. Prices are almost the same!
