Although, it says that is it ‘based on true events’, it also shows a disclaimer ‘All  characters in this film are work of fiction and resemblance to any character(s) to person living or dead is coincidental’ which totally confused me and made me wonder what are about to show and if it actually based on true events of that terror attack in 2002 or it’s a ‘story’.

So, I left this aside and decided to watch it without thinking it’s based on a true event. Also, if you have been to Jaipur City Palace, you’ll be like ‘yeh to Jaipur Rajashthan hai, not Gujrat’ but anyway, let’s talk about the story.

The lead character of Major Hanut Singh is played by Akshaye Khanna who has a history to break protocols and do whatever he wants in order to seize the opportunity to save our nation. 4 terrorists attack the Krishna dham temple in Gujrat, kill so many people and keep many under hostage. By the end of it, all are felled by NSG (major singh, obviously, he is the hero).

I do not like to watch such sequences which shows how brutally people are killed. It makes me feel restless. Also, there are many characters such as a man who calls his son on his mobile phone asking him is he is fine or not and telling him that police has come to save you and all, and end up helping one of the terrorists because they said they will kill his son. How stupid is that. People are hiding inside, and this man is calling his son to talk. There were many other bollywood cliche in this one.

I have not seen the first part of the State of Siege which was apparently based on 26/11 attack and these 2 are not related. And I am not going to watch that one also, considering the fact and fiction khichdi that they have shown in this movie.

State of Siege: Temple Attack is directed by Ken Ghosh who has also directed Ishq Vishk, Fida and Abhay, the webseries. This film is “created by” – to quote the credits – Abhimanyu Singh and I am still unsure what they exactly meant by saying ‘created by’?, maybe the Khichdi.

But, if you watch it as a pure work of fiction, and like to watch such khoon-kharabe wali movies, then you can give it a shot.

I will give it 1.5/5 and these 1.5 points are just for Akshaye Khanna’s performance.

State of Siege: Temple Attack is streaming on Zee5.
