Pre & Post Holi Skincare Tips: Holi is almost here and I am pretty sure you must have started preparing for it. Well, why not! It is one of the biggest festivals in India. Since it involved playing lots and lots of colours, it might leave your skin in a bad condition. My skin type is sensitive and therefore, I try to be extra cautious when it comes to Holi. At first, I would suggest you to play colours without water and try getting the organic colours. But still, it is not in your control how the colours might react to your skin.
So, in this post I am sharing pre & post Holi skincare tips with you. I have tried and tested these tips and sharing it from my own experience. Read and start prepping up your skin for Holi.
Pre Holi Skincare Tips:
- Apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly or coconut oil on your face and exposed body parts to create a barrier between your skin and the colors.
- Wear long-sleeved clothes to protect your arms and legs from color.
- Cover your head with a scarf or cap to protect your hair and scalp.
- Apply a good quality sunscreen with SPF 30 or above to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
- Avoid wearing contact lenses as the colors can get trapped under the lenses and cause irritation.
- Apply a lip balm to prevent your lips from getting dry and chapped.
- Avoid using any makeup products as they can react with the colors and cause skin irritation.
- Trim your nails and apply a transparent nail polish to protect your nails from color.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within.
- Eat a healthy and nutritious diet to keep your skin healthy and glowing.
Post Holi Skincare Tips:
- Rinse off the colors with cold water and mild soap or a gentle cleanser. Avoid hot water as it can cause dryness and irritation.
- Do not rub your skin vigorously to remove the color. Instead, gently massage your skin with a soft towel or sponge.
- Use a gentle exfoliator to remove any leftover color from your skin.
- Apply a moisturizer immediately after washing off the colors to prevent dryness and irritation.
- Use a hair conditioner to nourish and moisturize your hair after washing off the color.
- Do not use any harsh chemicals or alcohol-based products on your skin as they can cause further damage.
- Apply aloe vera gel on your skin to soothe any skin irritation or inflammation.
- Avoid going out in the sun for a few days after Holi to prevent further damage to your skin.
- Use a hydrating face mask to rejuvenate your skin after Holi.
- Visit a dermatologist if you experience any skin problems like rashes, itching, or irritation after Holi.
