Before traveling to India, research the customs, safety precautions, and rules around the festival. Make sure you know the cultural significance of Holi and the different ways it is celebrated in the various regions of India.

  • Dress appropriately

Wear clothes that cover your body and are not too revealing. Holi is a time of celebration, but it is best to be respectful and conservative with your clothing.

  • Stay hydrated

Drink plenty of water throughout the festival to avoid dehydration, especially if you are planning to play colours. Trust me, after playing colours you will feel very dehydrated and lethargic. holi safety tips

Protect your eyes from bright colors, particularly if you are sensitive to them. Make sure your sunglasses cover your eyes properly including your eyebrows.

You’ll be out all day to explore and be a part of the celebrations, make sure to carry power bank for your phone.

  • Keep a pocket-sized first-aid kit

In case of any accidents, it is best to be prepared with a small first-aid kit. Include band-aids, headache pills, vomit/nausea tablets and anti-allergic tabs if you have the prescription.

  • Inform about your plan

You are travelling during Holi, I would highly recommend you to inform about your plan and itinerary to your friends or family, especially someone in the city. If you don’t have a single friend or relative in the city, then inform the manager of your hotel about the same.
