Mysore is also known as Mysuru, is the second most populated city of Karnataka after Bengaluru. It is 150 kms away from Bengaluru and takes about 4 hours to reach via road.  Mysuru used to be the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore. It is situated at the foot of Chamundi Hills. This place is known of it rich cultural environment.

Dussehra is celebrated with great splendour and magnificence for ten days and usually people from around the world visit the city during the festival. The name Mysuru treasures its origins from Mahishasura, who was a demon who had the capability transform from a buffalo to human and vice-versa. Thus, in the ancient times it is assumed that this place was ruled by the demon Mahishasura who was killed by the Goddess Chamundeshwari, whose temple now lies on the top the hills. This is how the town was named Mysore!
