Lost in Space is a Sci-Fi web series streaming on Netflix.
After Manifest, this is the second english web series in recent times, that got me so intrigued and hooked into the storyline that I binge-watched it. Season 1 of Lost on Space was released in 2018 and last season i.e. Season 3, was released in 2021. I saw the completed watching the whole series last week. I came across this one while searching for a suitable web series for my nephew Yuvraj who is 8. Lost in Space was trending in ‘kids’ section.
I am huge fan of Sci-Fi material, whether be movies, web series, books or magazines. I have always been interested in astronomy and this one was very impressive.
Plot:
2 Years after the impact event on Earth, in 2046, selected families who pass a series of tests, are sent to Alpha Centauri planetary system, which has a habitable Earth-like planet suitable for humans. Before they reach Alpha Centauri, their resolute (the spaceship which has separate Jupiters i.e. personal spacecrafts) is assault by alien robots making Robinsons (the lead family) and a couple of other survivals crash-land temporarily on the nearest habitable planet, where Will Robinson, the little boy, meets a robot, eventually changing him into a good robot with his deeds which makes the robot follow will’s instructions like a master.
The entire series is about fighting with the aliens and trying hard to reach Alpha Centauri, safe and sound.
Lost in Space Review:
If I begin to write pointers here, I would be revealing many things about story, more like giving out a spoiler which I really don’t want as this is worth watching.
The series is fast paced and will keep one hooked till the end. Each season has something more to the story. I really liked to series of events shown in the series. It got me thinking more about Alpha Centauri and as I researched, I found that there is actually an Alpha Centauri which is a gravitationally bound system of the closest stars and exoplanets to our Solar System at 4.37 light-years from the Sun. It also has an earth-like planet. Interesting!
Although, I really wanted to see something about the aliens who actually made the robots, there is no clear story about it only that the SAR, evil alien robot master, killed everyone. Oops! That’s a spoiler from season 3.
Not just sci-fi but Lost in Space is also about pure human emotions of love and trust. It’s about family, friends and humanity.
I really liked Maureen Robinson (the mom) and Don West (just another resolute passenger who turns friends of Robinsons) the most. In fact, Don West is my favourite of all.
Interesting fact is Lost in Space, the current one streaming on Netflix is a remake of LOST IN SPACE released in 1965 which was also a television series. But original Lost in Space was cancelled as the most likely reason the show was cancelled was its increasingly high cost. The cost per episode had grown from $130,980 during the first season to $164,788 during the third season, and the actors’ salaries nearly doubled during that time, hence they had to cancel it.
Conclusion:
If you are a fan of sci-fi or looking for an interesting web series for kids, Lost in Space should be next stream on your device.
Sending 5 stars for this one!
