How to Get Better Sleep? Tips that Works Wonders

A good sleep is very important for our body especially our brain to function properly. Lack of sleep can cause a lot of health problems including trouble in concentration, loss of memory, mood swings, weak immunity, dullness, tiredness, high blood pressure and weight gain to name a few. It is said that one should get at least 8-10 hours of good sleep in 24 hours in order to stay healthy. But some of you might not able be able to sleep well. Here’s me sharing how to get better sleep. Tips to Get Better Sleep Naturally

  • Relax your mind and turn-off your gadgets at least 30 minutes to 1 hours before your bedtime
  • Wash your legs and hands. Also, put some essential oil or lotion. Prefer something with lavender or jasmine as it elevates the mood and relaxes the mind
  • Read a book or a magazine before sleeping
  • Clean your bed properly; I prefer a different bedsheet for night that is neat and clean. It instantly makes me feel relaxed. I spread the night bedsheet before my bedtime and remove it in the morning. This should be a part of your bed-making night routine
  • Wear something comfortable. Do not wear fancy fabric clothes if it is not comfortable. Go for a nice cotton or hosiery night suit/nighty
  • Play calming music or guided sleep meditation if you are facing trouble in sleeping
  • Do not over eat during dinner
  • Keep the room cool and dark
  • Your bedroom should be clean and have less stuff. This helps the calm energy flow properly

Journaling before Bedtime

I usually prefer journaling before bedtime. This helps me put all the negative thoughts and stress release on paper making me feel calm and relaxed. Apart from this, I also set good intentions for the next day by writing what I expect, what I wish and anything that comes in my mind. It makes me feel happy. You must also try journaling at night, it helps relax and declutter your mind a lot.

Chanting Mantras for Sleeping

When I am ready to sleep, I keep my phone aside, close my eyes and start to chant mantras. There is a switchword phrase shared by Divaker sir that also helps one fall asleep quickly. It is Lavender-Ho-Off-Sweet-Voilets. Apart from this, you can chant any mantra like Gayatri Mantra, Om Namah Shivaay, Om Shri Ganeshaye Namah to name a few. You will start to fall asleep as you begin to chant these mantras.
