|| Jai Mata Di || Navratri is almost here and I am sure you must have started preparing for it already! Me too! I just love Navratri and I believe if you do Puja properly and have 100% faith in Mata rani, then Mata rani helps you manifest your wishes. In this post, I am sharing how I do Navratri Puja. I have shared the step by step Navratri Puja Vidhi here, so hope this helps.
Some people might do the Navratri Puja in a different way and that’s okay. People often modify the steps and procedure according to their beliefs and at times, convenience. I do the Puja the way I learned from my mom. Coming from a Brahmin family, I am very much religious in nature and have grown up in the surrounding like this.
Anyway, so here’s how I do Navratri Puja:
Step by Step Navratri Puja Vidhi:
Things you need for the Everyday Puja of Navratri for 9 nights:
- Incense sticks
- Sindoor
- Flowers
- Diya
- Ghee
- Turmeric (haldi)
- Chandan
- Sweets
- Fruits
- New clothes for Maa durga (this is used on the first day of Navratri)
If you wish to do kalash Sthapna, then follow the process below:
Things you need for Kalash Sthapna:
A Kalash, Red cloth, Rice, Ganga Jal, Barley seeds, mango leaves, handful of red soil, roli and a coconut.
Navratri Kalash Sthapna Vidhi:
- Clean the slab or the table
- Spread a new piece of red cloth on it
- Place the photo of Maa Durga on it
- Spread the red soil in front of the photo
- Sprinkle water on it
- Sow some barley seeds in the soil
- Place the Kalash in the centre of the soil pad
- Pour Ganga jal in it
- Drop some roli into the pot
- On the mouth of the pot, put the bunch of mango leaves and place the lid on it
- Put handful of rice on the lid
- Now wrap the coconut in another red cloth and put it on the lid
You need to lit the ghee diya every day in front of this.
Everyday Navratri Puja Step by Step Vidhi:
- Sprinkle some Ganga jal before you begin the puja
- Lamp the diya and incense sticks
- If it’s the first day, make the durga maa idol wear new clothes and jewellery
- Offer flowers
- Sprinkle some water on the soil (if you have done the kalash sthapna)
- Offer sweets and fruits as Prasad
- Do the aarti of Maa Durga (twice, every day)
- Distribute the Prasad to everyone, family and friends
- Repeat this for 9 days of Navratri
I personally love to indulge myself in the Bhakti of Mata Rani especially during the Navratri. I decorate my home’s temple on the first day before we begin to do the puja for Navratri. I don’t do the Kalash Sthapna but I do the aarti twice a day.
Also, I would suggest you to avoid eating Non-veg, egg or getting drunk during the divine Navratris. Some people might not agree for this, but that’s okay! I am just sharing what I follow and what my belief is.
This is happening for the first time that I am writing a blog post where I shared how I do puja, and frankly speaking, it felt good. Hope you felt the same while reading this.
