Have a small house stuffed with many things? Want to make it look spacious? This post is especially for those living in 1RK or 1BHK and want to create good living space. When I was in college, I lived in 1 room for 2 years and being a home decor enthusiast I always loved experimenting with the decor and was able to keep my space look pretty. So, here are my best tips on creating living spaces in a small house. Read on!
- If you have a strong budget, ensure that you invest in quality products. There are several brands that are expensive, but worth the amount.
- Once you have set the budget, focus on the design and make sure that the product fits your house. Try out the design which will go forever rather than doing something which is trendy.
- Always focus on accessories. Do not spend a large chunk of your money on accessories as they may not matter to you after few years. Accessorize less.
- If there are certain changes that needs to be made to add charm to your stay place, do not hesitate. If your house needs to be painted, do think about it. Though, it means spending a huge amount of money as well as time. Also, if there are any temporary changes required, do it immediately.
- Do not allow clutter to stay at your house as it will not only occupy the space, but will also make your house dirty. Make a cleaning schedule so that the dirt gets away and your house looks spacious.
- Always know the space of your home. Buy your furniture and accessories accordingly. The lesser you buy, the more will be your space at home.
- Set your things at home that you love. Some art, some souvenirs, some candles etc but make sure you don’t have too much of it. Also, it’s better to have 1 huge decor item rather than 10 small ones, it makes the space look big.
- Add a big mirror as a wall decor, it just makes the space look big
- Use light colour decorative items, beddings and furnishing. Also, if you have an accent wall (means one of the 4 walls is of dark colour or have a designer wallpaper on it) then look for contrast furnishing and decor items.
All in all, the idea is to make small space look bigger. The gist of this post is put less but apt decor items, keep less things to make the space look clean, tidy and big.
