Watching patriotic movies, singing the national anthem, wearing desi outfits and stuff like these never fail to evoke a sense of patriotism and pride in us. But what really causes ripples in the hearts and fills us with patriotism is visiting a patriotic place. Visiting a patriotic and historical place makes you empathise and go back to time. You actually see things where certain incident had happened that you otherwise would have only seen in movies or read in books. Visit such patriotic places is an experience that we all should do at least once in our lifetime. These places narrate the stories of struggles, fights, triumphs, sadness, bloodsheds, victory and what not. It makes us happy evoking the sense of pride but also makes us sad. In this post, I am sharing the best patriotic places in India to visit for a once in a lifetime experience. You must visit these places at least once!
P.S: Wait till the pandemic is over, avoid travelling for leisure till the time situation is not fine
Best Patriotic Places in India
- Attari-Wagah Border, Amritsar, Punjab
Situated in Amritsar, you must visit this at least once to see the daily flag ceremony in the evening when soldiers of both the nations do march-past. They then open the doors of India and Pakistan and soldiers shake-hands towards the end of the ceremony. You also get to dance. Linking the blog post about this at the end of this post.
- Cellular Jail, Port-Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands
I am sure you must have heard about Kala Pani ki Saza? This is that cellular jail that was called as kala pani ki saza. It is one of the most brutal thing done by britishers. Again, linking the blog post at the end of the post. You must read about this one in detail.
- Hall of Fame (a war museum), Leh & Ladakh UT
We all are aware about the wars that have happened in the past and so many bravehearts lost their lives. This is a war museum in Leh that narrates their brave stories of sacrifice.
- Red Fort, Delhi
Before Britishers, we all know Mughals were ruling our nation. Red fort is a place to unveil the history of Mughal empire and their barbaric deeds.
- Jhansi Fort, Jhansi, U.P.
Jhansi Fort is the symbolic monument of India’s First War for Independence in the year 1857. This fort narrates the story of our brave veera Rani Lakshmi Bai, and how bravely she fought against the Britishers.
- India Gate, Delhi
India Gate in New Delhi was built in honour of 82,000 Indian Army soldiers who gave their lives in the First World War and Anglo-Afghan War. There is a shaheed amar jawan jyoti that is always lit to honour our brave soldiers.
So these were the best patriotic places to visit in India. Apart from these, I believe each and every city has a place that narrates the story of our brave freedom fighters and soldiers who fought and sacrificed for our nation. Try to explore that place in our city. For instance, in Kanpur there is an old British library and some really old colleges that were once the hidden hub for freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar Azad. Also, try to visit the war museums in various cities.
