Yes! You read it right. There are many health benefits of chocolates. Many people only associate chocolate with weight gain and ruined teeth. But it is wrong. Chocolates, especially dark chocolates have many health benefits. Personally, I love chocolates and even today, I eat at least 1 chocolate every day. I am not saying you too do the same, just sharing this FYI.

Here are 9 health benefits of chocolate:

  1. Researchers have proved that chocolate help you improve your memory as you grow older. This is mainly because it contains high flavanols which works as a booster for memory.
  2. Eating chocolate can prevent sunburn! Wait what? Actually yes! There was a study conducted in London that found that women who ate chocolates with high flavanol content, got less sunburnt as compared to women who didn’t. The ones who ate chocolates could withstand double the amount of harmful UV rays on their skins.
  3. Chocolates are good for heart! People who eat chocolates, especially dark chocolate have about 37% lower risks of getting a heart attack.
  4. And as chocolates are good for heart, it also helps lower cholesterol levels.
  5. Chocolates contain epicatechin, which is an amazing flavanol that helps you get better results during your workout.
  6. Researchers have proved that chocolate also help keep the veins and arteries that helps to lower the risk of blood pressure issues.
  7. Chocolates helps produce more endorphins, a hormone that is body’s natural painkiller.
  8. How common is giving someone a chocolate who is feeling sad? Quite common! This is because eating chocolate instantly uplifts the mood, cheers them up and makes people happier preventing depression; this is also because of endorphins.
  9. Chocolates help you manage weight! How? Well, when you eat chocolate, it makes you feel fuller and helps reduce your food cravings. If you are worried about too much sugar content in the chocolate, you can always opt for sugar free chocolates.
