Never waste a crisis. Covid-19 is indeed one of the worst pandemics in the history because nothing ever like this before has caused the world to shut down. Every country across the globe tried to follow a different path and found that a complete lockdown is inevitable, the impact of which was swift and widespread that people were forced to rediscover the value of some old ones and learn new lessons. I too learned some positive lessons from the coronavirus pandemic. Sharing the same here!
HUMANS ARE SOCIAL CREATURES:
The pandemic has highlighted the importance of social interaction and human contact with every aspect of lives, including employment, recreation, education and entertainment. Families and friends are connecting over video calls. Researches have shown that people who are connected to each other are happier and healthier in the long run. Having it known, social distancing changed into physical distancing. Though, it became difficult but we all are doing it.
ETHICS AND EQUITY:
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is the promise of digital medicine where the tools of Artificial Intelligence transform all professions and at the same time, healthcare is the ultimate argument for all difficult lessons. The digital medicine gave us an unparalled opportunity to address the social determinants of health and provide access to one and all.
SHUTDOWN WORKS:
When Ebola occurred, it didn’t kill millions because the shutdown of the affected areas was complete and prompt, yet, we failed to learn. On this pandemic we all have experienced responses from world leaders that range from downright idiotic to measured which led the virus spread throughout the world and turn vibrant cities into ghost towns. Everything came to a halt and it actually worked, especially for those who did it strictly, like Bhilwara city in Rajasthan, India.
HYGIENE & IMMUNITY HELPS:
We all have been taught that hygiene is important and washing hands every time we visit a place that can cause germs, when we return home from outside and before/after meals are for good measure. The Covid pandemic has proved that the internet of you can support the new era of health assurance where sophisticated medicine can be delivered to people at home. Health is equally important to face the ill effects of virus. A better immunity is needed to stay fit and healthy. The importance of immunity was actually understood by people and focused upon to fight against the virus.
WE REALLY DON’T NEED MUCH TO LIVE:
We all have lived through lockdown and the availability of shelter, communication, food, water, educations and medicines and entertainment has kept us going. This pandemic has forced all of us to ask what all we really need to live reasonable well and the answer in – not too much. Many people have found ways to learn new skills or do things they have always wanted to do. Even in my interviews, I say Pandemic changed me big time. I turned from a hoarded to a mindful shopper.
We would have wasted this crisis if we start adopting solutions to stay within planetary boundaries in right earnest, both in our professional and personal lives. It might be too much to ask for but if we adopt what we have learned, we will be better. These lessons from coronavirus are legit and I am sure you will agree with me on this. I always believe, whatever happens, it is always teaches us a lesson. Now, it’s up to us that we take it or leave it.
