Right on the outskirts of Mumbai, is located this beautiful city of Thane which is also known as one of the ‘city of lakes’. There are 7 ‘city of lakes’ in India, I have added the list about this at the end of this post. Thane is really an old place ass a copper plate dating 1078 AD was found near the ancient Thane fort in 1787.
I recently explored Thane to the fullest and trust me, it has so much to offer. If you want to experience nature at its best within the city, Thane won’t disappoint you. This city has 33 lakes. Yes, 33! Isn’t it amazing?
Any lake which is located within the city, enhances the beauty of the city. This is the case with Thane.

The lake is surrounded by important historic places like Gadkari Rangayatan, St. John church, Kopineshwar temple and Jambli market. There is a Mahadev Dhyan Mandir at the centre of the lake and also a statue of Shivaji Maharaj near the lake. |

I have seen almost all lakes but I personally loved the Upvan Lake. This is one of the most popular lakes and tourist locations in Thane. There is a nice open area right next to the lake for eating, so you can go there with your friends and family and have a nice time together!
