When I heard Zoobar for the first time, 2 thoughts came into my mind- 1) It must be a theme restaurant. 2) It must be a bar.But if you wondering the same, then let me tell you… it’s neither a pure zoo-themed restaurant nor a pure bar. It’s a cool hangout restaurant cum lounge where you can come with your family and friends and chill.
To match up with the name, only you’ll see the miniatures of animals there and some matching decor. It will surely impress the kids.
FYI- They have special combos for kids and also, their Sunday brunch for kids is a must try.
The ambience was good. It has outdoor as well as indoor seating options.
What really impressed me when I entered the place was the library. I immediately went to check out the collection. It had some classic books like The great gatsby, hard times, etc. and some new Indian fiction books too. That’s nice!
Major turn off for me was the location of the Zoobar. It’s situated in a very chaotic and narrow road near Ville Parle station. Though, good thing is they have Valet Parking service, so… parking wasn’t a problem.
Coming to the food. I ordered The Potato basket and Mini Mezze.
I always expect the presentation to be good in places like this. But being said it is a chill out place, it actually is. You order food, you get it. There is no special kind of presentation or decor that they followed. Like we ordered Potato cheese basket. So, I was expected was a very pretty little basket with potato wedges topped with veggies and sauces etc. But our looked like this!
Taste was also good. Not that excellent but not that bad either. I think Zoobar would be a perfect place for hanging out with family and friends during the day time. But you can surely pay a visit to this place at night too, if you simply want to hangout, drink and enjoy the music.
…and yes, they also host bollywood karaoke on Thursday nights and Hip Hop nights on Wednesday. Just FYI! Oh and yes, during Sunday brunches, you can also bring your pets along.
