In India, we celebrate Hindi Day aka Hindi Diwas on 14 Sept., every year. Hindi is our mother tongue and one of the 2 official languages in India. The other one is English. Hindi is also one of the major languages ​​spoken in the world. Hindi is indeed an ancient, rich and simple language of the world. This is the language of our honour, self-respect and pride. Most of you don’t know but Hindi language is the third most spoken language in the world.

History of Hindi Diwas:

After India got independence, on 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly unanimously decided that the Hindi language will be the official language of India. Every year 14 September will be celebrated as ‘Hindi Diwas’ or ‘Hindi Day’ from 1953 on the request of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha in order to expound the importance of this important decision and to spread the awareness about Hindi in every region.

Significance of Hindi Diwas:

Gradually the prevalence of Hindi language increased and this language took the form of national language. Now our national language is also very much liked at the international level. One reason for this is that our language is a reflection of the culture and rites of our country. Today students from every corner of the world are turning to our country to know our language and culture. A Hindustani must know at least his own language i.e. Hindi, at the same time we also have to learn to respect Hindi. Hence, Hindi Diwas is very significant as it is celebrated to celebrate our mother tongue, our official language and also to spread the awareness about the same!
