Halloween is usually a holiday in the US and is celebrated in a many different ways. Some take out their children for a trick or treat, organizing and attending costume parties, or can even be watching a scary movie. This is usually associated with ghosts, creatures, candies and spooky happenings. But of all have you ever imagined as why people usually dress up in and also decorate their houses in the shades of black and orange? In this post, we will discuss why are black and orange halloween colors!

These celebrations originally began in the United States of America in the early 1900s. Those day people used handmade costumes and décor the surrounding of their homes with pumpkins and cornhusks. And at the time of late October during the season on fall we get to see orange and yellow hues around. But as we know to get that spooky look or that ghostly feeling black colour was added to intricate darkness.

And as years passed by many companies started commercialising these colours for making event decorations and even paper costumes. They also featured spooky pumpkin, cats, witches and bats. Jack-o-lantern in the same hues became iconic. As the other businesses also saw how popular Halloween became, many of them started manufacturing candies specially for this day, started designing costumes and turned out to be prominent in making good turnover.

So I would conclude that symbolically the meaning of black and orange purely stands out for Halloween. As Halloween was always believed as a night-time holiday whereas orange is the mark of fire and the fall season as the shade is an indication of harvest. Thus these colours actually make more sense. Halloween is an onset of winter and it has been about the transition where the summer gets transformed winter. And so Black and orange invoke flares in the night time while they also summon ripe pumpkins as to light and desolate winter which ultimately symbolizes death.
