They are multipurpose product and hence they save time, money, space in your makeup bag and simplifies your makeup routine.
BB and CC creams are not exactly same. So, what is the difference between bb cream and cc cream? Well, if you really wish to use it correctly then the decision of choosing the right one depends on your skin type and desired look. Here, we help you to explain the differences between the two so that you be able to choose the best one for your skin.
What is BB Cream?
BB stands for blemish/beauty balm cream, it was developed by a German dermatologist Christine Schrammek and was very popular in Asian countries, now it is widely used almost everywhere. It contains high amount of antioxidants which protects the skin from free radicals and pollution damage. It gives your skin an even coverage and skin tone.
BB cream helps in making skin look bright, glowing and radiant. Some BB creams comes with sun protection ingredients like SPF 15, zinc oxide or titanium dioxide which helps in protecting skin from harmful effects of UV rays. BB cream has nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin E which not just helps in gradually reducing the skin from blemishes but also temporarily reduces the appearance of dark spots & fine lines. Because of these properties it is not just any traditional foundation cream which only helps in covering up blemishes, it works in repairing the skin too. It offers sheer coverage and is best for concealing minor blemishes. It evens out skin tone and gives a velvety, dewy finish look. Most BB creams works best for dry skin but there are some great options for oily skin too.
What is CC Cream?
CC cream was introduced recently and it stands for colour/complexion correcting cream. CC cream gives little more coverage to blemishes than BB cream and is better in hiding skin imperfections. It helps in hiding redness, uneven texture, melasma, hyperpigmentation like skin imperfections caused by rosacea, acne scars. CC cream increases the natural radiance of the skin, protects and moisturizes the skin. It also comes with SPF coverage. CC cream is best suitable for oily skin but some CC cream available today are suitable for dry skin too. It is thicker in texture than BB cream due to the purpose it serves. One can use CC cream as a primer.
Which one to choose?
Both BB and CC cream provides sheer coverage and has skin care benefits. In terms of hiding blemishes, scars or correct the colour of skin CC cream is better than BB cream. CC cream is ideal for those whose main purpose is to hide blemishes on skin and even out skin tone. While BB cream looks more natural and is ideal for everyday natural makeup look. BB cream looks dewy and is nude in colour when applied on face, it gives a no makeup appearance whereas CC cream gives a matte and richer look to face. CC cream is best
choice for parties, events post sunset and it stays for a longer time on skin. The mattifying formula of CC cream soaks extra oil and sebum of skin. If you are someone who doesn’t like wearing heavy makeup and is more inclined to look natural then BB cream is best choice for you as it provides light coverage compared to traditional foundation.
If you are someone who likes to wear heavy makeup, has blemishes on skin and want to hide it then CC cream is ideal as it provides medium coverage.
I prefer using Lakme 9-to-5 CC Cream for regular use and I totally love it! My skin type is combination of sensitive, dry and oil.
