I recently went to conference in Lucknow where I was staying along with many other delegates (mainly speaker, entrepreneurs and artists) in Novotel Lucknow. Well, at first, this was my second experience with Novotel Lucknow and it was as comfortable as it was the first time. Although I don’t say I am an expert and I am no one to criticise anyone but I was surprised to see many people taking things from the hotel room, that they are NOT supposed to. But it would have become even more awkward if I stopped them and gave them gyan on this.
Hotel room is your temporary accommodation and mostly hotels makes sure that the rooms have all the things that you might need during your stay. But that doesn’t mean you can take it along, for free. So, what can you take from a hotel room? Here’s the list:
Things you can take from a hotel room:
- Shampoo / Soap / Conditioner
- Comb
- Shower cap
- Coffee / Tea / Sugar Sachets
- Notepad / Pencil / Pen
- Slippers (if they are the white disposable ones)
Yes, this is IT!
Here is the list of things that you CANNOT take from a hotel room:
- Pillows / Blankets
- Bathrobes
- Hair dryers
- Coffee maker
- Remote batteries
- Lamps & bulbs
- Tv & phones (yes, once I heard there was a traveller who stole the small tv in the hotel room, weird world!)
- Clothes hangers
- Iron and ironing board
- Coffee & tea mugs / glasses
- Table clocks
- Ashtrays
- Paintings
- Tissue boxes (however, you can use & take some tissues with you)
The rule here is very simple. Imagine you go to a hotel and there is a bottle of used shampoo or a soap or half torn coffee sachet. Will you use it? Or if there are dirty slippers, will you wear it? No! Hotels usually throw away all of the single-time use items. Those are the items that you can take along.
Things that cannot be replaced and are permanent asset of the hotels, cannot be taken. And if you take these things, it will be more like stealing.
You can use all the things present in your hotel room, as much as your want. You can even ask for more if required. But make sure, you don’t take things with you that are not meant to be.
Here are some of most frequently asked questions about things that can and things that cannot take from a hotel room:
Can I take towel from hotel? NO
Can I take Bathrobe from hotel? NO
What is complimentary items in hotel? Apart from coffee, tea, sugar there are some hotels that give water bottles and snacks for free. Confirm from the reception about the things that are included in your booking
Can you take the slippers from a hotel? YES
Can you take hotel toilet paper? YES, but don’t take the whole roll.
I hope this helped!
