Kashmir is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, serene landscapes, and cultural richness. I recently visited Kashmir and it is so so beautiful that I cannot put it in words. Now I know why it is called as the “Jannat” or “Paradise on Earth”. Its stunning landscapes, which include snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, serene lakes, and vibrant gardens makes it amazingly beautiful. The combination of breathtaking scenery, picturesque waterways, and the unique culture of the region makes Kashmir a truly captivating destination. Here are the top 5 places to visit in Kashmir:
Top 5 Places to Visit in KASHMIR in 4 Days
- Srinagar: The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar is famous for its picturesque Dal Lake, where you can enjoy shikara rides and stay in houseboats. The Mughal Gardens, such as Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh, offer exquisite floral displays and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
- Gulmarg: Known as the “Meadow of Flowers,” Gulmarg is a popular hill station and skiing destination. The Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable cars in the world, offers breathtaking views of the snow-covered landscapes. During summer, the meadows transform into a paradise of vibrant wildflowers.
- Pahalgam: Often referred to as the “Valley of Shepherds,” Pahalgam is another charming hill station surrounded by lush forests, gushing rivers, and verdant meadows. It serves as a base for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. The Lidder River and Betaab Valley are must-visit attractions here.
- Sonamarg: Translated as the “Meadow of Gold,” Sonamarg is a mesmerizing valley known for its alpine meadows, pristine lakes, and breathtaking glaciers. It’s an excellent starting point for treks to places like Thajiwas Glacier and Zoji La Pass.
- Zero-point/Zozila Pass: Zoji La Pass, situated at an elevation of around 11,575 feet (3,528 meters), is a breathtaking mountain pass, connecting the Ladakh UT and Jammu and Kashmir UT. The area around Zoji La Pass, often referred to as “Zero Point,” is characterized by its high-altitude landscape and offers travelers an almost surreal experience. The stark beauty of this region, with its barren terrain and towering mountains, is a reminder of the harsh yet mesmerizing nature of the Himalayas.
I explore all of these places and trust me, you are going to love each place I mentioned in this article.
