Har Har Mahadev! You must have known about the famous Shiva temples in India, especially the Jyotirlings. But very few people know about the temple where Lord Shiva got married to Parvati Ma, the divine Shiv-Parvati Wedding Venue!

In Uttarakhand, there is an ancient Lord Vishnu temple surrounded by mountains called as Triyuginarayan Temple. It is believed that Lord Shiva got married to Parvati ma, daughter of Himavat, who was the king of Himayalas. This celestial wedding was witnessed by many Gods including the Lord Vishnu himself, while the priest of the wedding was Lord Brahma.

When you visit this temple, you will be an ever-burning flame in front of the temple. It is said that this divya jyoti (the divine flame) has been burning since the time of Mahadev’s and Parvati ji’s marriage.

The temple resembles with the look of Kedarnath and Tungnath temple and is also known as Akhand Dhuni temple.

Exact Place of Lord Shiva’s wedding:

Inside the temple, is the Brahma Shila which is said to be the exact place of Lord Shiva’s wedding. There are also 3 holy kunds – The Rudra kund, the Vishnu kund, the Brahma kund, where the wedding rituals took place.

Because of the fact that Mahadev ji got married here, this Triyuginarayan Temple is also one of the most divine destinations for weddings.

How to reach Triyuginarayan Temple:

Triyuginarayan Temple is located 12kms off-road from Sonprayag. There are 2 nearest railway stations from Sonprayag – Rishikesh railway station (215 kms) and Dehradun railway station (251 kms) while nearest airport is Jollygrant airport which is 230 kms from Sonprayag.

Once you reach Sonprayag, you can either go by road which is approx 12 kms or trek through the forest which is approx 5 kms. Taxis, tempos and bikes are available in Sonprayag.
