Movie Review of Teri Meri Kahanni- Reasons to Watch and Ignore
Teri Meri Kahani Movie Review:
The movie has a different plot and the director Kohli got the idea of soul buddies, exhibiting the bond of love ahead of generations and the same two actors represent three couples and no rebirth theme is visible. The concept of the movie was well researched and romance is being revisited in real Shakespearan style. The movie yawns all the way from Mumbai in the year 2011 and reaches London, Jubilee Campus where it was shot in the University of Nottingham.
It blooms under the stern eyes of British-ruled India in 1910; then entering with a twist in the golden era of Bollywood in1960, finally entering the love-chats in the digital world like sharing, poking on facebook era of 2012. But fortunately, it is not about treacherous janam-janam ka love and rebirth. It is a true romance that blossoms in three dissimilar generations.
It begins in Sargoda, Lahore where Javed Shahid Kapoor, is a casual Romeo who tries to allure people with his seduces with shayari and strongly believes in independence of heart over neighbourhood. Here he meets Aradhna who happens to be a daughter of a freedom fighter and she totally transforms him from a shayar to a flag-waver.
Priyanka Chopra is accustomed to playing multiple characters and she has done this job successfully earlier also. She is as natural and bubbly as ever, but she is not at her best in this movie.
Shahid Kapoor , as badnaam shayar Javed uses his chocolaty boyish charm effectively in the movie. His dance moves in Uff and Humse Pyar Karle Tu was just awesome. He seduces the spectators with his shayari and style, thereby glimmering life into this super cliché-riddled kahaani.
Kunal Kohli has tried to portray a huge canvas in displaying this romantic comedy with hurdles of customs, caste and costumes but even with huge talent the script somehow lacked depth. Cute conversations, romance, conflicts, high and lows are there but it lacks something.
Reasons to Watch:
- If you are a hardcore fan of Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra then you can see them being portrayed in three different eras. The displayed amazing chemistry in the movie
- If you are fond of music of Sajid Wajid they have done a good job.
- The production design is awesome, particularly the pastime of 1960s in Mumbai.
Reasons to Ignore:
Do not watch this movie –
- If you are expecting best of Priyanka and Shaahid
- If you are looking for a wonderful plot
- If you are in low state of mind and are looking for movie that will entertain you
