With time, I have become more spiritual. Maybe it’s because of the life hardships that I have seen; it has transformed my belief system and has made me more aware. I follow the lunar cycle for my spiritual practices. Lunar cycle is basically following the moon phases (full moon, no moon, waxing moon etc.) and working accordingly. There are mainly eight phases of the moon: new Moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full Moon, waning gibbous (for more on this phase, you might search for “what is a waning gibbous moon?), third quarter, and waning crescent. The cycle repeats once a month, every 29.5 days to be more precise. I have experienced that the more you dive deep into all this, the more you practise, the more it works for you.

Many people do not believe in all this, but I do. And science has proved this. Our body is 65% of water and moon has a major effect on water. I am sure you must be aware of the high-tides and low-tides. We get deep into this in another article, but for now, just know that moon has a very major impact on our bodies. Therefore, it can make or break our dreams too.

While the new moon is all about new beginnings, full moon is all about releasing and letting go. I never ever miss a chance to do my full moon and new moon rituals. It makes me aware about my current goals, my aims and my mindset. It also helps release stress, anxiety and all the unwanted thoughts that keep on bugging us.

Here is the step by step of the full moon rituals that I do to release and let go.

  • Finish all your night routine work and sit for a while (you can also take a bath)
  • Become aware of the moment and tell yourself that it’s the full moon. It is very powerful and will always help you for good.
  • Clean your table/alter and make it look tidy
  • Lit some scented candles or essential oils in a diffuser
  • Cleanse the space with an incense stick or sage
  • Now take a pen and paper
  • Rub your palms together to change your hands with energy
  • Make a list of things to you wish to release and let you. For example, I now release all my money blockages; I now release all the blockages coming in my way of getting to #1 position in my work; I now let go all fears in my heart; I now let go everything that no longer serves me. Things like that. I set myself free from…. I let go this habit of …. You can be specific in writing this.
  • Read it loud, as if you are telling this to the moon
  • Tear it or burn it
  • Visualise the energies taking all the negative vibes away
  • Feel the moon light and it’s power
  • Now meditate or you can simply dance to release the energy. Yes, dancing helps a lot. It makes you feel happy and helps in releasing the energies
  • Now relax, take a few deep breaths.. sip your herbal tea or hot lemon honey water and feel good
  • After this you can either go off to sleep or do something that you like, eg watching a movie, listening to songs etc. But make sure, it’s positive. Avoid watching things that are depressing and causes you to feel anxious or sad like squid game. You can also do journaling and note your thoughts and feelings in it.
