Finally, I saw Saiyaara last night and here’s my honest movie review of Saiyaara.
With trailers that promised soul-crushing heartbreak and people allegedly sobbing in cinemas, Saiyaara made quite a dramatic entry into theatres. Directed by Mohit Suri and starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, this romantic drama was marketed as the next big love story of our times. But was it really that deep? Not quite.

Saiyaara Movie Plot & Cast Details
The story follows Krish, an emotionally intense musician, and Vaani, a soft-spoken poet. Their creative paths cross, and sparks fly. What begins as a passionate, magnetic love affair soon unravels into a web of misunderstandings, jealousy, and emotional burnout. The film tries to tap into themes of ambition, insecurity, and love lost, but it doesn’t offer anything we haven’t seen before.
Ahaan Panday shows promise in his debut. He fits the role of a passionate artist but tends to overact in a few emotional scenes. Still, for a newcomer, he holds his own.
Aneet Padda is the real surprise. Her screen presence is calm, natural, and emotionally grounded. She brings a lot of depth to Vaani and honestly outshines her co-star in the more emotional portions of the film.
Saiyaara Movie Review
Let’s address the elephant in the room—those viral videos of people crying in cinemas? Either the film hit only a very specific emotional nerve or… clever PR. Because while Saiyaara is decent, it doesn’t leave you shattered. The narrative is fairly predictable, following a very familiar path of love, fallout, and regret.
That said, the music is absolutely beautiful. The songs carry the weight of the film and do most of the emotional heavy lifting. The title track is haunting, and a few others linger in your head for hours after the credits roll. Visually too, the film is polished, cinematography is stylish and scenes are well-framed. But the storytelling? Just okay.
Final Verdict
Saiyaara isn’t a bad film—it’s just not worth the emotional hype it tried to create. If you go in expecting a tragic romance that’ll shake your soul, you’ll walk out mildly underwhelmed. However, if you’re going in for good music, fresh faces, and an easy-to-watch love story, it delivers just that.
Rating: 3 out of 5
Watch it for the songs, not the sobs.
