Right now as I write this post, I am sitting in hotel room in Shimla and sipping amazing Himanchali herbal tea. Trust me, this tea is amazing. And when it comes from a person like me who is not a fan of teas, you have to trust on this! I know I am kinda late in updating you all with my travel plan but to tell you all, its been mad catching up with family in Delhi (as they were coming from Kanpur) and then driving to Shimla. If you follow me on instagram or facebook, you must know as I am quite active there! Today is 12th July 2016 and my trip already Ladakh road trip already started yesterday. Our first stop is Shimla, where I am right now and writing this post. Climate is really pleasant right now and I am enjoying writing this post. In this post, I will tell you everything on preparing for Ladakh road trip if you are travelling via car.
Here is my travel plan and route details:
11 July: Delhi to Shimla
12-13-14: Shimla
15 July: Travel ~ Shimla to Manali
15-16-17-18: Manali – Kullu – and nearby places
18 July: Travel ~ Manali to Sarchu – night hault in Sarchu
19 July: Travel ~ Sarchu to Leh
19-20-21: Leh and nearby places
21 July: Travel ~ Leh to Pangong – night hault in Pangong
22 July: Travel ~ Pangong to Leh
22-23-24: Leh and sight-seeing
24 July: Travel ~ Leh to Jispa, night hault in Jispa
25 July: Travel ~ Jispa to Manali
26 July: Travel ~ Manali to Chandigarh
27 July: Travel ~ Chandigarh to Kanpur.
Initially we were supposed to come back via Sri Nagar, and not Manali. We made some major modification in our plan as previously we had to had travel to Sri Nagar via Kargil from Leh (after coming back from Pangong) but we had to cancel it because of recent riots in Sri Nagar. Also, previously I was planning for Chandigarh to Delhi, but then I decided to be home with family, hence Chandigarh to Kanpur!
Preparing Your Car & Self for Ladakh Road Trip:
- There is no network once you cross Rohtang Pass, so make sure your first aid kit is ready, just in case you need it
- Fill your car with things to eat like chips, wafers, breads, etc
- Make sure you have enough water
- No matter in which month you will travel, at night it will be freezing cold. Make sure you have extra blankets
- Carry extra fuses and spare lights of your car
- Make sure your spare tyre (Stepney) is perfectly okay and you have a jack, just in case your car’s tyre gets punctured
- If you are travelling with kids, make sure your have extra food for them
- Keep a torch with you, don’t rely on your mobile phone
- Pack light, don’t fill your car with extra shoes and fancy outfits. Your aim is to enjoy the nature and not attend a fashion parade
- Don’t wear leather shoes, wear something comfortable like sneakers or sports shoes
- Carry slippers (it always helps)
