Journaling is always a good idea. In fact, I maintain gratitude journal, daily journal (more like a planner), plot journal and current manuscript. Recently I have discovered a new hobby i.e. To have a travel journal. Its totally a cool idea to kill time and express your love to the place you travel, things you discovered, people you met in a very beautiful and old school way.
I have a proper diary where I jot down everything but making it artistic, doodling and sticking random collectibles is way more fun. Isn’t it?
So, if you are a wanderlust soul… just give it a shot. Here’s what you’ll need to get started-
Travel Journal Toolkit:
- 1 diary (I would recommend the one without date stamps)
- A pen of your choice
- Glue stick
- Color pens or pencils (optional)
- Whitener (just in case you err)
- Small envelopes (optional)
- Stick notes (optional)
What to do with your travel journal?
You must be wondering the same! Well now that you have your travel journal ready, you simply have to carry it with you where ever you go and jot down things you like. You need not to be a great illustrator or drawing champ in order to doodle in your travel journal. You can simply write things down.
You can collect small little things like local tea-bags, currencies, toffee wrappers, newspaper ad cutting, boarding pass, etc and add it to your journal.
Make sure you mention the place in big and bold letters. If you don’t get time during travelling, you can always do it later when you reach home. Simply keep things inside your travel journal and stick it later.
What I do?
Being an author, I always carry a diary with me as ideas, plot twists and characters can hit me anytime. I travel with 2 main journals, 1 is daily work journal and another one, for these special journaling. When I travel, I don’t carry my other journals (eg gratitude journal) but I utilise the main journal pages. I don’t usually stick big things in my journal as it makes it heavier.
I simply jot down things I like and things that catch my attention in my journal. This also helps me in remembering small little details which I use when writing a blog post.
Travel Journal Ideas:
Ain’t these ideas so inspiring! I am sure it’s a good hobby to cultivate.
