I just called to say I love you – An Original Poetry

I just called to say I love you.

Not because I had something important to tell you,
not because there was a reason,
not because the conversation would change anything between us.

I just wanted to hear your voice exist for a moment.

Sometimes love is not dramatic.
It is simply reaching for someone
in the middle of an ordinary day
because your heart suddenly misses them too much.

I just called to say I love you,
but what I really meant was:

“Did you eat?”
“Are you sleeping okay?”
“Did life hurt you today?”
“Are you still carrying stress silently?”
“Do you still think about me too?”

Because love hides itself inside small questions.

Your voice sounded normal,
and somehow that comforted me.
You spoke casually,
while my heart sat quietly on the other side of the call
trying not to say too much.

There are some people
who never truly leave your system.
No matter how busy life gets,
one thought of them
and suddenly your entire day changes temperature.

I just called to say I love you.

And maybe that sounds simple.
But in a world where everybody hesitates to feel deeply,
calling someone just to love them out loud
is still one of the softest things a heart can do.
