A perfect planner is the one that helps you get organised and more productive. The main underlying notion is that it should make your life easier, and not complicated. There are tons of interesting options available including weekly planners, or monthly planners, or daily planners, or coiled planners, or colourful planners, and the list goes on. So, how do you choose a planner that’s best for you?
Here are some tips to help you to choose a planner that is best for you:
Remember a planner is an important tool, but it cannot make you more disciplined, or infuse loads of energy into your life. It cannot present solutions to you. You need to use the planner as a significant tool to help you get your work done in an organised and systematic way done. Make the best choice and choose a planner keeping this thing in mind as your needs are likely to change constantly.
Carefully contemplate what you want the planner to accomplish:
This is very important before you start looking at planners. Do not get tempted by all the nice features of the planner. At times you may be carried by seeing how other people use their planners. But you need to consider what your planner is going to do for you. Ask yourself whether you just need to keep track of the appointments so that you do not forget them? Or do you need assistance in staying motivated so that you are ahead of mundane daily tasks such as running errands or doing household cleaning jobs?
Determine what main features you would prefer in your planner such as:
Size; daily planners are usually big and very heavy to carry around whereas weekly planners tend to be compact and portable
Portability; Do you have to carry it around with you everywhere or you just need to put it on your desk? If you want to carry it around, you need to choose something small and light.
Granularity; Do you want a weekly or a monthly planner, or a detailed day-per-page planner?
Binding Style; Do you want a removable or a permanent complete coil bound planner? But remember a coil bound does not offer any room for flexibility. Do you want to make your planner using something like a discbound style or maybe 3 ring binder?
Do you want a fully customizable style and a bullet Journal system that offers a super flexible set up
Carefully reflect on its design:
You’ll likely be looking at your planner a lot throughout the year, so you select an attractive style that you prefer and suits your taste. Decide whether you want colourful or neutral or minimalistic in design.
Consider your budget:
Determine how much money you want to spend on buying a planner. It is important not to waste precious time searching for a planner that is beyond your budget.
Remember, a planner will only organise your schedule if you use it properly. You will have to put forth an effort to use a planner to organise your life and commit to it to reap positive results.
For this year, I got the Amazon Brand – Solimo A5 Planner.
(the one shown in photos above)
I really liked this planner because:
- It has blank pages for daily notes and information and does not have divided/ruled/dated pages. This is because I often skip writing notes and I only write information, so at times the day-area goes blank and it ends up in wasting so many pages.
- It doesn’t come with useless trackers but has because and productive lists, that can be helpful.
You can buy from the link below. It comes with a free pocket-daily planner as well.
