Location

Jade plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight. If you keep them indoors, a south-facing window is ideal. If you decide to keep them outside, it’s best to place them in a partially shady spot.

Watering

When it comes to watering jade plants, it’s best to err on the side of caution by giving them a deep soak when the soil is almost dry. Over-watering can cause root rot and other damage to the plant, so it’s important to make sure the soil is allowed to dry out in between waterings.

Soil

For best results, use a well-draining soil that’s loose and airy. You can also add a bit of sand or perlite to the soil for better drainage.

Fertilizer

Jade plants need very little fertilizer, and you can get away with fertilizing only once or twice a year. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength.

Pruning

Pruning is important for keeping jade plants healthy. Take off any dead leaves or stems and also remove any unhealthy-looking branches.

Re-potting

Jade plants don’t need to be re-potted often. When it is time to re-pot, make sure to use a larger pot with plenty of room for the roots to spread.

Jade plants are beautiful and resilient plants that don’t require a lot of care once they’re established. With the right location, soil, and water, you’ll be enjoying your jade plant for years.
