The level of your success totally depends on your belief system. Here, I do not mean with the philosophy, religion etc. But what I mean is your belief system about your success and your abilities. Believing is yourself simply means you trust your capability of succeeding. It means you actually believe that you CAN do it. When you really believe in yourself, there is no room for self-doubts. When you believe in yourself, you feel confident about your actions and about your decisions.

When I conduct motivational sessions or mentor one-to-one, I always say that first step to anything is to believe in yourself. When you have fears and doubt, you tend to sabotage your own success. And even if you get the best tools or training related to your work, you will not succeed until you believe in yourself.

1. Work on your strengths

I understand when you fail again and again, it becomes impossible to believe in yourself. You say things like ‘I am bad at this’, ‘I don’t think I will be able to do it again’, ‘I will never be good enough!’.

But, people often forget that you tried which clearly states that you have the strength. And failure doesn’t mean you CANNOT. It means you need work again with improvements in your efforts. Everyone has weakness and strengths. The key is to focus on your strengths and work on it.

You need to determine what your strengths are. Once you do that, you start to work on it to make the most of it. Do not reply on your weakness. Leave it aside.

The most successful people in the world focus on the positive and not negative. When you shift your focus from what you CAN do than on what you cannot do, you will see a great difference in your pace of success.

2. Guide yourself

You need to guide yourself always. You may take suggestions from others but how to pursue and which direction to go, this is where you need to guide yourself. You know yourself better than anyone in the world. You know your strengths and weaknesses, it is always good to calculate things according to your abilities and then take actions.

You may have a career or personal journal for the same, where you can write your strengths, weaknesses, options, directions, actions, opportunities, responsibilities and everything related.

3. Start trusting yourself

Self-confidence comes when your trust yourself completely. With trusting, I don’t mean that you become over-confident and think that you will always win. Sometimes you will fall and sometimes you will fail. But you should not stop trusting yourself. Trust that you will get ‘there’ no matter how many times you try!

When you begin to trust yourself, the first step is to stop trying to ‘fit in’ to every scenario. You are a normal human being and human beings have flaws. No one is perfect. Trust yourself that whatever God has given you is perfect for you and with that you can achieve all your desires.

4. Focus on well-being

At times, people start running the rat race and in that rat race, they forget their own well-being. You cannot achieve your goals with an unhealthy body and mind. I am sure you must have heard this idiom – all work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Well, this is the truth. When you turn into a zombie workaholic, you will lose your productivity and charm. And with 0 productivity and 0 charm, is it even possible to believe in yourself? Will you be happy when you look yourself into the mirror? No!

For your well-being you may either start with walks, jogs, exercise, meditation, yoga, journaling or any other hobby of your interest, that make you feel happy and excited from within.

5. Be uncomfortable

Imagine, what you did today is same as yesterday which is same has a year ago? Clearly there is no progress. And when there is no progress, there is no change! You need to be uncomfortable about your mundane routine. You have to step out of your cozy comfy zone and do things differently.

Self-belief automatically comes in when you start to see good progress in your life. You will see you are growing, you will see your are moving closer to your goal, you will believe more in yourself. This is why, it is very important than you step out of your comfort zone and be enthusiast to bring positive changes in your life in order to enhance it.
