When I visited the Gurney House it was drizzling. My guide accompanied
me and showed me the private museum and then spoke about the lifetime
and achievements of Jim Corbett.

Another Museum at Kaladhungi is also located only 37 kms away from where I was standing. As I entered into the Gurney House I was amazed to see the beautiful landscape and the varieties of flowers and trees all around the House.

The very different kinds of trees and bushes with different leaves structure and multiple colored petals gave me the feeling of staying in some fairy-tale island. It made me creep and also frightened when I spotted some reptiles and insects that were present in the branches and the trunks of the trees. But I thought that these were all part of the natural surroundings.

Another very unique thin which I had seen in the place where the two varieties of trees with opposite qualities present just near to one another. The Bichhu booti which is known for creating sting and serious itching if touched was accompanied by the healer tree named hara patta whose leaf if rubbed in the stinted part will take away the itching and reddish effect instantly.

The local foods which are well known in this place are rhododendron squash, apple jam, plum jam, apricot jam and fresh corn toasted over the wood fire. I tasted most of the food and also bought some for my family members.

Apart from this, what took my heart away was the house. It was a big lavish house with 3 bed rooms, 2 living rooms, 4 other rooms including dinning room and 2 kitchens. The care taker of the house lives there only. The house is open to all.
