I love FRIENDS. This is the one show that I never get bored of. In fact, FRIENDS actually help me deal with anxiety, mood swings and those moments of feeling low. When it was first announced that the cast of FRIENDS is coming back together for one last time for a special FRIENDS Reunion episode, I couldn’t keep calm. I knew I HAD to watch it. But then I saw it last night and this is what I felt!
FRIENDS is a popular sitcom starring Matthew Perry as Chandler, Jennifer Aniston as Rachel, David Schwimmer as Ross, Courtney Cox as Monica, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe and Matt LeBlanc as Joey.
Watching everyone come together was very nostalgic (though I didn’t cry) because frankly I love the ‘characters’ of friends and didn’t want to see this side of them. Although ‘FRIENDS’ mean a lot to many people from all across the world and is source of joyous escape from reality to many including me, I was not ready to listen to things like ‘Na, I have not seen many seasons’, ‘no! I don’t remember that episode?’, et al.
The flashbacks from the episode was truly a treat to watch. And the time, when they were reading their dialogues, it was hilarious. But why no one mentioned that ‘Joey doesn’t share food!’?
I also couldn’t over-look the fact that all of them have grown ‘so old’. I mean, day before yesterday, I was watching a random episode from season 3 and yesterday, watching this. It felt like, someone brought me to this bitter reality which I subconsciously I didn’t want to.
I loved the friendly appearances by ‘the hand twin’, ‘Mr. Heckles’, ‘Justin Bieber’, ‘Lady Gaga’, and of-course ‘Janice’.
I was also expecting that Joey will say this pet dialogue ‘How you doin?’, whenever he met someone knew, but na, he behaved like Matt Leblanc and not Joey. I love Joey and Chandler!
And God, Phoebe still looks the same!
All in all, it was indeed a treat to watch the FRIENDS Reunion – The One Where They Get Back Together. But I wanted to see more and wanted them to talk more about what used to happen behind the scenes. I wanted to see more of BTS footages and bloopers. But it was good to revisit the days with the cast (virtually) and listen to their side of stories.
If you are in India, you can watch it on Zee5. It is also streaming on HBO Max.
Could I be more honest in reviewing this one? Well, this was my take on Friends Reunion.
I am going to continue watching the episodes of FRIENDS though. I have seen it several times and will continue to watch it in loop. Because there is something about this sitcom that makes me feel warm and cozy. What about you?
