Festival Travel: Ganesh Chaturthi 2022 Guidelines in Maharashtra

Ganesh Chaturthi 2022 is on 31 August.

Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra is celebrated with much fervour and enthusiam. With the decorated pandals, echoing jai-karas and the divine vibes, the whole of Maharashtra, especially Mumbai, becomes one of the most visited places in India for Ganesh Chaturthi. To make it easy and comfortable for the people and the environment, Govt. released a set of guidelines for Ganesh Chaturthi festival celebrations. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called a meeting recently where these guidelines were set and discussed.

I thought since we discuss so much about travel, culture, festival and on-going trends, it will be a nice thing to make my readers aware about these guidelines; just in case your are in or planning to travel to Maharashtra for Ganpati festival.

  • The toll have been waived-off for the ten-day period during the Ganpati festival for people travelling to their native places in Konkan
  • CCTV cameras have to be installed into the pandals in order to prevent and keep an eye on any wrong activity
  • The association and organisation leaders need to have a meeting with the members and guide them about the plans and inform them, in order to ensure peace, harmony and ease
  • Pandals have to maintain hygiene in order to prevent the spread of any disease
  • Govt also removed the restrictions on the height of the idols this year

If you are travelling to Maharashtra or live in Maharashtra and planning to attend Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations I would strongly recommend you to:

  • Practise hygiene by not throwing waste packets, bottles etc. here and there
  • Carry sanitizer
  • Wear mask
  • Do not get into any sort of argument with the locals
  • Be kind to locals
  • Talk to locals about any specific rules that a particular pandal is following

Remember, the festivals are all about love, devotion, peace and harmony.
