Dhadak the first one was surely a hit for me. I loved everything about the movie so when I heard about Dhadak 2, comparing it with first one was natural. Trailers looks really nice and hence I decided to watch the movie the first day of its release. Here is my honest Dhadak 2 movie review.
Dhadak 2, directed by Shazia Iqbal and backed by Dharma Productions, is not your typical sequel. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, this film leaves behind the glossy teen romance of the original and steps into more serious territory—caste-based discrimination, systemic injustice, and the cost of loving beyond boundaries. It’s ambitious, it’s timely, but is it impactful?

Dhadak 2 Plot
The story revolves around Neelesh, a quiet, ambitious law student from a marginalized caste background. His life changes when he falls in love with Vidhi, a confident upper-caste girl who seems untouched by the harsh realities he faces every day. Their relationship begins in college corridors but soon becomes a powerful lens to explore India’s deeply rooted caste prejudices, privilege, and emotional violence. Love may be at the heart of this story—but the backdrop is one of brutal inequality.

Siddhant Chaturvedi gives one of his strongest performances to date. As Neelesh, he is both restrained and powerful. The way he conveys rage, helplessness, and resilience—often without saying a word—is truly moving.
Triptii Dimri, as Vidhi, balances strength with vulnerability. She brings grace to a character who is slowly waking up to her own privilege and the harsh truths of the world around her. Their chemistry is understated but real.
The supporting cast—especially those playing college authorities and family members—adds to the authenticity of the story’s environment.
Dhadak 2 takes a bold step in its storytelling. It doesn’t sugarcoat its message or rely on dramatic punchlines. The visuals are striking, with smart use of color and symbolism throughout. Blue tones, crowded classrooms, and oppressive silences speak louder than any monologue.
However, not everything hits the mark. The pacing stumbles, especially in the second half. Some emotional scenes don’t build up enough tension to truly land. A few subplots feel either underdeveloped or unnecessary, distracting from the core conflict. At times, the storytelling becomes too subdued, muting the urgency of the issues it’s trying to highlight.
That said, the film does succeed in starting a conversation and sometimes, that’s more important than perfection.

Dhadak 2 isn’t just a love story—it’s a social commentary wrapped in cinematic poetry. With brave intentions, strong performances, and a few truly moving moments, it challenges the way we look at romance in Bollywood. Is it flawless? No. But is it necessary? Absolutely.

Watch it for its purpose and performance, not for escapism.
