Namaskaram ππ» You all must be aware (if only you follow me on twitter & instagram) that I am travelling these days. Right now as I write this post, I am on the way from Munnar to Thekkady. Situated at an altitude of 1700m in the Idukki district of Kerala, Munnar is one of the most beautiful hill stations in India. It is a filled with unique species of flora and fauna. The entire terrain is covered with forests and grasslands. It offers breathtaking views and serene beauty. It was also a privileged place of visit during British rule. It’s really a beautiful place and I totally loved it.
If you watch bollywood movies and have seen Chennai Express, then I must tell you major part of the movie has been shot here. The song Kashmir Mein Tu Kanyakumari has also been shot here. So yes, those beautiful tea estates and alps-like mountains are here! I can see em right now. Anyway, in this post I am sharing the best places to visit in Munnar. Tea Estates
The tea estates of Munnar valley are the most beautiful things you will ever see in a hill station. Green pastures spreading till the far horizon with terraced farming huts.
Anaimudi Peak
It is the highest peak of South India, with peak at 2695m above sea level. It is situated in the interior of Eravikulam National Park. The park is also famous for various flora and fauna and some endangered species too.
Echo Point
Situated at 15km away from Munnar, echo point is one of the best places to visit in Munnar. The place is surrounded by lush green valleys and you can take a long nature walk here around the lake also. You can scream to the extreme and hear your voice echoing in the valley.
Mattupetty Dam
It is one of the most popular attractions of Munnar valley. You can enjoy the breathtaking views and also boat rides. Cattle farming is also famous in the region.
Top Station
This place is located on the outskirts of the district and lies on the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The view from this place is so marvelous that you cannot wish to leave ever. Lush green valley of tea estates and a sunset point nearby too.
Lakkom Waterfalls
Situated around 25kms from Munnar, the falls are situated at a bit interior from the roads and at an altitude too. So you have to take a trekking path to reach the falls. But after tiring walk, you can rest your legs in the cold waters of the falls. Always take a guide along with you on such ventures.
