Madurai is famous for its temples and sculptures of the ancient creation. While on my trip to South India, I took a halt in Madurai for a day and trust me, it was an all new experience. Though, it is a small city but it is really rich in culture and art. You’ll get to see oldest temples there. And the best thing was, they have created temple like gates on roads too! When you’ll look at the pictures, you’ll understand what I am trying to say!

Best Places To Visit In Madurai:

Sri Meenakshi Temple

The temple is known for its historical significance and was a grand palace and a great tourist attraction nowadays. The story of the temple is very interesting and the guides are there to help you out. The art and architecture is so divine in its structure and glory.

The idols which are placed inside the temple is another very fascinating feature of the site and is worth watching.

You can click some photos or take some videos of this beautiful structure and its superb sculpture which is made through rock cutting and grinding of rocks. The superb and splendid characteristics of the temple and its structure gives the in depth knowledge of the Tamilian art and culture of the Southern Kings and emperors of the 16th, 17th and 18th century. 

Koodal Azhagar Temple

This is also another beautiful temple which has intricate carvings and sculptures in its walls and ceilings and is known to attract visitors from all across the country. A devotee of the gods and goddesses comes here to pray.

Other attractions for tourists in Madurai are Aayiram Kaal Mandapam, Pazhamudhir Solai, Sri Subramanya Swami Temple. All these are famous tourist attraction of Madurai which will make your eyes go widened and make you satisfied with the experience and enthrallment you receive. 

The Alagarkoli Temple which is also a beautiful shrine of the goddess, The Gandhi Museum which has all the memories and amazing records of the various well known facts and stories of the southern ruler and kings of early centuries. 

Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal, Kalamegaperumal Temple and Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam are also some of the well- known sites and places to visit in Madurai. The Iskcon temple which is the temple of Sri Radha Mathurapati Temple is another very good and magnificent sculptured and crafted temple in Madurai.

So when you are in Madurai, you make yourself ready to visit loads of old and ancient temples. But I bet you will not get bored because all of these places are simply magnificent and beautiful.
